Flame, pops and bangs tuning
A pops and bangs remap is a software modification that makes your exhaust crackle, pop, and bang on the overrun, that is, when you lift off the throttle at high revs. On more aggressive setups, it can produce visible flames from the exhaust tip. It is a purely cosmetic and entertainment modification. It does not add power, improve torque, or make your car faster in any way.
Important: This modification is not legal for use on public roads in the UK. It can cause your car to fail an MOT noise test and may attract attention from police under noise legislation. How it works
Your engine management system controls how fuel is delivered and when it ignites. A pops and bangs remap adjusts the fuelling and ignition timing so that a small amount of unburnt fuel passes into the exhaust on the overrun. When that fuel meets the heat of the exhaust, it ignites, producing the characteristic crackle, pop, or bang that makes this tune so popular.
The intensity can be tuned. A mild burble tune produces a low, grumbling crackle at low revs. A more aggressive popcorn tune or flame tune creates louder, sharper pops and, on the right exhaust setup, flames at the tip. Standalone or added to an existing remap
A pops and bangs tune can be added to an existing Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap, or carried out as a standalone modification. If you already have a performance remap with us or from another tuner, we can assess your current map and advise on the best approach. Many customers combine it with a stage remap on the same visit to keep costs and booking time down.
Legal notice
A pops and bangs remap, burble tune, or flame tune is not road legal in the UK. Vehicles modified in this way are likely to fail an MOT noise test under the Construction and Use Regulations. Use on public roads may also attract attention under noise abatement legislation.
