Seat and Skoda remapping

Seat and Skoda sit on the same VAG Group architecture as the Golf GTI and Audi S3. The EA888 engine that powers the Octavia vRS 245 is the same block tuners have been extracting power from for years. Factory calibrations across the range are set with comfort, economy, and mechanical caution in mind. There is headroom built into every one of these cars from the factory floor.

Samuel Gunnell has been mapping VAG-platform vehicles at Manchester Dyno Centre for over ten years. Every tune is developed and signed off on our 4-wheel-drive Bapro dynamometer in Eccles, Manchester, so the figures are measured against real load, not lifted from a generic file.

Models we tune

Seat Leon. The Leon is one of the most common Seat remaps we carry out. All three engine variants, the 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI, and 2.0 TDI, respond well to Stage 1 work. The 2.0 TSI delivers the most noticeable gains in power and torque, with a wider, more usable power band across the mid-range.

Seat Ibiza. The 1.0 TSI three-cylinder and 1.5 TSI four-cylinder both respond to remapping. Gains are smaller than in the Leon's larger displacement engines, but the improvement in throttle response and low-end pull is felt on the road.

Skoda Octavia vRS. The vRS 245 and vRS 230 are among the most frequently booked Stage 1 platforms we see. Both run the EA888 engine with good headroom in stock trim. The 2.0 TDI in the vRS 230 is particularly well-suited to remapping, strong torque gains with no supporting hardware required.

Skoda Fabia vRS. Less common than the Octavia, but we still see them and the platform responds well to tuning.

Cupra

Cupra has established itself as a genuinely rapid standalone brand, and the factory calibrations reflect that ambition. They do not, however, reflect the full potential of the hardware underneath.

The Cupra Formentor and Cupra Ateca are available in both 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI configurations. The Cupra Leon shares its platform directly with the Seat Leon and Volkswagen Golf. Stage 1 remaps on each of these bring meaningful improvements without touching the hardware. For owners looking to go further, Stage 2 work with a free-flowing intake and upgraded intercooler opens additional headroom in the map.

DSG remapping for Seat and Skoda

Most Seat and Skoda performance models come with the S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox fitted as standard. The transmission control unit (TCU) has its own torque limits, and in standard form those limits sit below what a remapped engine will produce. Without a TCU remap to match, the gearbox restricts the engine's output to stay within its calibrated ceiling.

We carry out combined engine and DSG remaps in a single session where the car has the hardware for it. Both units are then signed off together on the dyno. If your car has already been tuned elsewhere, a standalone DSG remap to bring the gearbox in line is also possible.

Frequently asked questions

Which Seat and Skoda models do you tune?
We tune the Seat Leon (1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI, and 2.0 TDI), Seat Ibiza, Cupra Formentor, Cupra Ateca, Cupra Leon, Skoda Octavia vRS in both the 245 and 230 (petrol and diesel), and the Skoda Fabia vRS. If your model is not listed, call us on 0161 302 5117 and Samuel will give you a straight answer on whether your car is a good candidate.
What gains can I expect on a Cupra Formentor remap?
We do not quote specific figures without seeing the car, because gains vary by engine variant, current state of tune, and the target we are mapping towards. On a 2.0 TSI Cupra Formentor Stage 1, the improvement is felt most in the mid-range, where the car feels more responsive and pulls harder from lower revs. Contact us and we will give you a car-specific estimate.
Do you remap the Octavia vRS diesel?
Yes. The Skoda Octavia vRS 230 TDI is one of the most popular diesel platforms we work with. The 2.0 TDI has strong headroom in stock form, and a Stage 1 remap brings good torque gains with no hardware changes needed. We remap both the petrol and diesel vRS variants.
Can you do a DSG remap on a Seat Leon?
Yes. Seat Leon models with the S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox, including the 2.0 TSI and all Cupra variants, can have the TCU remapped alongside the engine. We carry out combined engine and gearbox remaps in one session, so both calibrations are verified together on the dyno before the car leaves.
