Customers we see from Merseyside

Merseyside sits close enough to Eccles that the motorway network makes it a genuinely easy trip, and Liverpool, St Helens, Huyton and Prescot are among the more consistent sources of work outside Greater Manchester itself. Southport and Formby, further north, add another 10 to 15 minutes but still land comfortably inside the range of what customers treat as a normal drive for the right result. What they're driving for is the same thing every county sends us for: a fixed workshop, a 4WD dyno that actually measures the car, and Samuel Gunnell building the calibration personally rather than a file pulled from a database.

Towns customers travel from

Liverpool, Southport, St Helens, Huyton, Prescot and Formby. St Helens, Huyton and Prescot are the shortest runs, typically 25 to 30 minutes via the motorway network. Liverpool city centre usually sits around 35 minutes depending on traffic on the same network. Southport and Formby are the furthest of the group, generally 40 to 45 minutes via the motorway network.

About the service

The process doesn't change based on which motorway you arrived on. Every car goes onto the 4WD Bapro for a baseline pull, has the ECU read, gets a calibration built or adjusted by Samuel Gunnell, and runs verification pulls on the same rollers before it's handed back. Samuel has more than 10 years in professional tuning and is recognised internationally for the quality of his files, which counts for a lot with Merseyside customers who've often already had a remap done elsewhere and want to know what it should have looked like the first time. The dyno is the part that makes the difference visible: a genuine 4WD rig loads both axles on quattro, xDrive, 4Matic and every other AWD platform, where a standard two-roller dyno can only run one. Stage 1, Stage 2, economy remaps, gearbox and DSG remapping, standalone rolling road sessions, launch control, speed limiter removal and flame tunes are all available at Eccles. Prices aren't published anywhere. Every quote is built around the car and the work it actually needs.

Frequently asked questions

Do Liverpool and Merseyside drivers actually use a Manchester facility?
Regularly. St Helens, Huyton and Prescot in particular are a short run from Eccles, and Liverpool drivers make the trip for the same reason anyone does: a dyno-verified result rather than a file loaded and hoped for.
Is there a mobile version of this service for Merseyside?
No. All work happens at the Eccles facility, where the 4WD dyno is permanently set up. There's no mobile equivalent that can verify a calibration the same way.
What should I expect when I bring my car in?
A baseline pull to establish where the car currently sits, followed by the ECU read and calibration work, then verification runs on the same rollers. You leave with a documented result, not just a car that feels different to drive.
I've already had a remap done. Can you check it on the dyno?
Yes. A standalone rolling road session will show you exactly what your car is currently producing, whether that's confirming a previous remap did what it claimed or showing where it fell short.
Do you cover Southport and Formby, or is that too far?
It's within the range we see regularly, around 40 to 45 minutes. Plenty of Southport and Formby customers make the trip, particularly for Stage 2 and gearbox work where the result matters more than the drive.
