Toyota remapping

Hot hatch, sports car or pickup, whichever this is, it starts with the right map for the engine actually under the bonnet. From the GR Yaris to the Hilux, every Toyota calibration is developed and dyno-verified at our Eccles facility. Call 0161 302 5117 to talk through your car.

Every service available on the Toyota and GR range

Stage 1 is available across the GR range and the Hilux, developed and verified on our 4WD Bapro dyno rather than estimated from a spec sheet. Stage 2 is available on the turbocharged GR models, GR Corolla, GR Yaris and Supra, where supporting hardware is fitted, and we will advise honestly on whether it is worth pursuing over Stage 1. An economy remap suits Hilux owners covering high mileage, alongside speed limiter removal for trade and fleet use on the same vehicle. Gearbox recalibration is available on automatic-equipped cars, including the Supra's ZF eight-speed. Launch control coding is available on the GR Corolla and GR Yaris where the platform supports it, and a flame tune, pops and bangs on the overrun, can be coded in on the petrol GR models for private, off-road use only. We do not offer Stage 2 on the naturally aspirated GR86, its remap headroom is a refinement story rather than a boost-driven one.

Why Toyota and GR owners remap

Two very different owners come through Eccles with a Toyota. The first drives a GR Yaris, GR Corolla or GR86 bought specifically to be modified and driven hard, someone who already knows their car's engine code and wants a calibration that respects the GR-Four all-wheel-drive system or the GR86's naturally aspirated character rather than a generic file that ignores it. The second runs a Hilux for work, where the numbers that matter are fuel economy and a motorway speed limiter that costs time on every long run, alongside genuinely useful extra pulling power when the truck is loaded.

Both are solved on the same rolling road, because a Stage 1 performance calibration and a fleet-focused economy remap use the same dyno-verified process, just aimed at different outcomes. The Supra sits somewhere between the two groups: an enthusiast's car, built on BMW's B58 platform, that owners bring in wanting the same serious calibration this workshop already applies to BMW's own B58 cars. If you're weighing up the Supra specifically, our BMW remapping hub covers the shared engine in more depth.

Engine and stage options across the range

The GR Yaris and GR Corolla both run Toyota's G16E-GTS, a 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder sending drive through the GR-Four all-wheel-drive system. The Yaris produces 257 bhp from the factory across the range, including Circuit Pack cars (the Circuit Pack adds a mechanical front and rear Torsen limited-slip differential and suspension changes, not extra power), while the Corolla is rated at 300 bhp from the factory. Both leave real Stage 1 headroom above those figures once the factory's conservative multi-market calibration is properly developed.

The GR86 runs a naturally aspirated FA24 2.4-litre flat-four producing 231 bhp, the same engine architecture found in the Subaru BRZ, built jointly by the two manufacturers. There is no turbo here, so a remap refines timing and fuelling for sharper response rather than chasing a large bhp figure, an honest ceiling rather than a weakness. See our Subaru hub for how the same engine performs in the BRZ.

The Supra runs BMW's B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six in its higher-output form, or a smaller 2.0-litre turbo in entry specification, driving the rear wheels only. Because it shares its principal engine with BMW's own B58 range, Supra calibration work draws on the same platform knowledge as our BMW-badged B58 cars.

The Hilux runs Toyota's 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre D-4D diesel, producing 148 bhp up to the 2020 facelift and 201 to 204 bhp from the 2020 Euro 6 update onward, through a permanent or selectable 4x4 driveline. Diesel remapping here focuses on torque and economy gains within the engine's existing hardware, verified on the dyno rather than guessed at from a chip-tuning brochure.

A visit to Eccles

Whatever you drive in, the process is the same. The car arrives at HNA Facilities and goes straight onto the 4WD Bapro dynamometer for a baseline pull, giving us real figures for your specific engine rather than a published average. Samuel Gunnell develops the calibration from that baseline, using Kess3 or CMD bench and OBD tooling in person, there is no remote flashing platform for any Toyota or GR model on this site other than the Supra's shared BMW-based options. Once the map is loaded, verification pulls on the same rollers confirm the gain is real and repeatable before the car leaves. A GR Yaris session and a Hilux session look different in what gets discussed, but they use identical equipment and the same level of care.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my Toyota be with you?
A typical Stage 1 session, including baseline pull, mapping and verification runs, takes around half a day at Eccles. Hilux economy and speed limiter work is usually quicker. We will confirm a realistic timeframe for your specific model when you book.
Do I need to do anything before I bring my Toyota in?
No preparation is required beyond arriving with a reasonable amount of fuel in the tank. If you have already fitted supporting hardware, an intercooler or downpipe on a GR model for example, let us know in advance so we can plan the session accordingly.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Yes. Our facility is set up for owners to see their car on the 4WD Bapro dyno throughout the baseline pull, the calibration process and the verification runs.
Is a remap covered by any kind of guarantee?
We stand behind the calibration work we carry out and will discuss the specifics for your model, generation and intended use when you book. Get in touch with your car's details for a clear answer before you commit.
What if I only want the speed limiter removed and not more power?
That is a standalone service, particularly common on the Hilux. Speed limiter removal can be carried out on its own without a Stage 1 or Stage 2 engine calibration attached, and we will price it as exactly that.

Book your Toyota or GR model in, contact us to arrange a date. Call 0161 302 5117 or visit HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. This is a fixed facility, we do not travel to you, and every session finishes with dyno-verified figures rather than an estimate. See the dedicated pages for the GR86 (/vehicles/toyota/gr86/), GR Corolla (/vehicles/toyota/gr-corolla/), GR Yaris (/vehicles/toyota/gr-yaris/), Hilux (/vehicles/toyota/hilux/) and Supra (/vehicles/toyota/supra/) as they go live.
