Derbyshire drivers are usually already comfortable behind the wheel before they get to us. Buxton, Whaley Bridge, New Mills and Glossop sit on some of the best driving roads in the North West, the Snake Pass among them, and the cars that come through from the High Peak reflect that: hot hatches, BMWs, the odd Subaru that's clearly been used the way it was built to be used. Manchester Dyno Centre is a fixed workshop in Eccles, not a van that meets you at a layby. The car comes to us, goes on the 4WD Bapro dyno, and the calibration is built and checked against a real measured figure rather than guessed at from a spec sheet. From most of Derbyshire's western edge that's a 35 to 50 minute drive, which for a car you already take the long way home in isn't much to ask.

The dyno matters more than most people realise if you're running an AWD platform, quattro, xDrive, Symmetrical AWD or otherwise, because a standard two-roller rig can only drive one axle and ends up either limiting the car or working from a run that doesn't reflect how it actually performs on the road.
