Honda Civic Type R remap

Daily driver that gets used properly at weekends, or a dedicated track-day car that happens to be road legal. Whichever this is, the K20C1 responds to a calibration built around how the car actually gets driven. Call 0161 302 5117.

Every service available on the Civic Type R

Stage 1 calibration is the core service on the K20C1, software only, no hardware changes required. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware, such as an upgraded intercooler or downpipe, is fitted, and we'll advise honestly on whether it suits your goals for the car. An economy-focused remap is available for owners who want a Type R that costs less on longer commutes without touching its character on track days. Standalone rolling road sessions are available for a baseline pull, a post-modification check, or a straightforward power run. A flame tune, pops and bangs on the overrun, can be coded in for private, enthusiast use.

Why Civic Type R owners remap

Two kinds of Type R owner regularly bring the car to Eccles. The first is a daily driver who wants sharper throttle response and more mid-range pull for the commute and the occasional spirited back-road run, without changing what the car is used for day to day. The second is a track-day regular chasing lap time, where a Stage 1 calibration developed properly on the dyno translates into more usable power out of slow corners and stronger pull down the straights, measured and verified rather than assumed.

Both owners are working with an engine that Honda has already tuned hard from the factory, which means the calibration needs to be precise rather than aggressive. The gains are real, but getting them safely on the K20C1 means understanding exactly how this engine responds under sustained load, not just raising boost and hoping.

Engine and stage options

The K20C1 2.0-litre turbo produces 316 bhp in the FK8 (2017 to 2021) and 325 bhp in the current FL5 (2022 onward), both UK figures. Stage 1 is developed on software alone and, for most road-and-track owners, delivers the bulk of the usable gain without touching the mechanical package. Stage 2 requires supporting hardware, typically an intercooler and downpipe upgrade, to unlock further headroom, and we'll be clear about what that step actually involves before you commit to it.

A visit to Eccles

A Type R session starts with a baseline pull on the 4WD Bapro dyno, giving us a real measured figure for your specific car before any calibration work begins. The map is then developed against your car's own data, not loaded from a generic K20C1 file, and applied. Verification pulls follow on the same rollers under the same conditions, so the before-and-after figures are directly comparable. For a car this many owners genuinely drive hard, that verification step is where confidence in the calibration comes from.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my Civic Type R be with you?
Most Stage 1 sessions, including baseline and verification pulls, are completed within a few hours. If you're also having a flame tune or gearbox-related work carried out, allow a little longer, and we'll confirm timing when you book.
Do I need to do anything before I bring my Civic Type R in?
Bring the car with a reasonable amount of fuel and flag any known issues, fault codes or recent modifications when booking, so we can plan the session properly.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Yes, you're welcome to be at the facility while your Type R is being calibrated.
Is a remap covered by any kind of guarantee?
We stand behind the calibration work we carry out. Speak to us directly about the specifics for your car and how you intend to use it.
What if I only want the flame tune and not more power?
That's a standalone option. The flame tune can be coded in on its own for private, enthusiast use without any change to the engine's power calibration.
