We will be straightforward about which of these two applies to your car. The Clio IV's turbocharged F4Rt has real Stage 1 potential in the way any factory-boosted engine does, there is headroom in the boost and fuelling above the conservative factory setting. The Clio III's naturally aspirated F4R does not work the same way. There is no turbo to open up, so a remap on this engine is limited to timing and fuelling refinement, a modest, honest gain rather than the kind of jump a turbo car delivers.

What the gain feels like

On the turbocharged Clio IV, a Stage 1 calibration sharpens throttle response and brings the mid-range forward noticeably, the kind of difference you feel every time you get on the accelerator rather than only at the top of a dyno graph. On the naturally aspirated Clio III, the change is more subtle, a cleaner throttle response and slightly crisper delivery through the rev range, without the step-change a boosted engine provides. We would rather tell you that plainly before you book than let a figures table oversell what the F4R can actually do.

Beyond the Stage 1 map

Stage 1 is the main event on the turbocharged Clio IV, but the wider menu still applies to both generations. A standalone rolling road session, without any remap attached, is available if you want a documented figure on your specific car regardless of which engine it runs. Where the Clio IV runs the EDC dual-clutch transmission, we recalibrate the gearbox alongside the engine, sharpening shift speed and response. Launch control coding is available on EDC cars specified with it. Economy remapping is a reasonable option on the naturally aspirated Clio III for owners who want smoother throttle response rather than chasing a power figure the engine cannot deliver.

Dyno proof for this platform

Both generations of Clio RS are front-wheel drive, so the case for our 4WD Bapro dynamometer here is about precision rather than an all-wheel-drive argument. A four-roller, load-simulated pull holds the car under consistent resistance through the rev range, producing a documented, repeatable figure rather than a road estimate, on either engine. That matters more on the F4R than it might seem, an honest baseline is the only way to know what a naturally aspirated engine is actually capable of before deciding whether a remap is worth doing at all.

The figures shown differ significantly between the turbocharged Clio IV and the naturally aspirated Clio III, and every calibration is developed from your car's own baseline pull rather than a fixed number applied across both generations.
What affects the exact gain I'll see on my Clio RS?
Which generation and engine you have makes the biggest difference by far. Beyond that, fuel quality and the condition of the turbo, on Clio IV cars, or general engine condition on Clio III cars, both play a part.
Do you provide a printout of before-and-after figures?

A Stage 1 calibration on the turbocharged F4Rt is developed around UK supermarket premium unleaded. We will confirm the exact requirement for your specific map, including on the naturally aspirated F4R, once finalised.
Is Stage 2 worth it over Stage 1 on a Clio RS?
Stage 2 is a turbocharged-engine consideration and applies to the Clio IV where supporting hardware is fitted. It is not a relevant question on the naturally aspirated Clio III, where the honest ceiling sits well below what Stage 2 hardware is designed to unlock.
