Rolling road remap near Halifax
Every map developed and confirmed on a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer at a purpose-built facility in Eccles, Manchester. Here is exactly what a session involves from arrival to final figures.
The session, how it works
Your car arrives at the facility on James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester. It goes straight onto the 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer. Samuel Gunnell runs a baseline power pass to establish where the car sits before any work begins, a starting reference that is documented and kept.
From there, he reads the ECU and builds or modifies the calibration. The car goes back on the rollers. Fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events are all visible in real time throughout every run. There is no guesswork about whether the calibration is producing the right result, the data shows it immediately.
Samuel adjusts the map on the rollers and runs the car again until the numbers confirm the calibration is correct. You leave with documented before-and-after power figures from the same session, not an estimate of what a car like yours typically makes, but the measured output from your engine, on that day.
The facility
Manchester Dyno Centre operates out of a 6,000 sq ft workshop at HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. The 4WD Bapro dynamometer is in-house in a purpose-built cell, full four-wheel-drive capability is not something most UK facilities offer, and it is not shared with another business.
The hardware used for ECU read and write is Kess3 and CMD. Kess3 covers OBD-port work on a wide range of petrol and diesel platforms. CMD handles bench and direct ECU read-write for cases where the OBD route is not available. On-site parking. Fixed facility, customers travel here; this is not a mobile service.
Services
-
ECU calibration, Stage 1 Software-only remapping for petrol and diesel engines. Developed on the dyno, not loaded from a generic file.
-
ECU calibration, Stage 2 Requires supporting hardware to already be fitted, intercooler, induction kit, exhaust. The map is built around what is actually on the car.
- TCU calibration, DSG and traditional gearboxes Shift behaviour, torque limits and launch parameters mapped to match the engine calibration.
- Rolling road session Power verification only, no remapping. Useful for diagnosing performance issues or confirming existing work.
- Launch control activation Consistent standing-start performance. Platform and hardware dependent.
- Speed limiter recalibration Available for vans and commercial vehicles.
- Overrun / flame tune Anti-lag and overrun note calibration for enthusiast use on appropriate platforms.
-
Remote platform tuning Bootmod3 (BM3) and MHD for BMW and Mini. Stage 2 and above may require an in-person visit depending on the scope of work.
Halifax drivers and the Eccles facility
Halifax is approximately 35 miles from Eccles, around 45 to 55 minutes depending on traffic on a straightforward run. The route is straightforward, and the facility is well signed from the Eccles junction. Drivers from Halifax and the wider Calderdale area make the journey for work that requires a proper dyno facility: performance enthusiasts, modified-car owners and fleet operators who need documented results rather than estimates.
