Mini Clubman JCW remap
Every Mini Clubman JCW that comes through Eccles is calibrated on our 4WD Bapro dynamometer, the only way to load the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system the way it actually sends power to the road. B48 2.0-litre turbo, 302 bhp / 306 PS from the factory. Call 0161 302 5117 to talk through your Clubman JCW.
Why the 4WD dyno matters for the Mini Clubman JCW
ALL4 is Mini's all-wheel-drive system, and on the Clubman JCW it is standard equipment, not an option ticked on half the range. Under normal driving the car sends drive predominantly to the front axle, with the rear engaging through an electro-hydraulic clutch pack the moment the front wheels start to slip or lateral load calls for it. That variable split is part of what makes the JCW Clubman feel planted through a fast bend in a way a front-drive-only hot hatch does not.
A two-roller dyno cannot replicate that. Strap a Clubman JCW to a rig built for a front-wheel-drive hatchback and you either lock the rear axle out of the equation or force the ALL4 system into a test mode it was never designed to run in on the road. Neither produces a number worth trusting.
Our 4WD Bapro dynamometer loads all four wheels independently, so the ALL4 system behaves exactly as it does on a real road, from the baseline pull through to the verified map.
How we map the Clubman JCW
Every Clubman JCW starts with a baseline pull on the Bapro, run before anything else happens, so we have a genuine reference for your specific car rather than a factory datasheet. The B48 engine shares its architecture with the Mini Cooper S, and the ECU is read directly from the car via Kess3 or CMD bench tooling at Eccles. This is in-person work only; there is no remote flashing platform on this site for Mini's version of the B48.
From that read, Samuel Gunnell develops a calibration around your car's actual fuelling, boost and timing data, not a generic file pulled from a shelf. Once the map is applied, the Clubman JCW goes back on the rollers for verification pulls, run back to back on the same dyno cell as the baseline, so the before-and-after comparison is measured on identical equipment rather than estimated.
Beyond the Stage 1 map
A Stage 1 calibration developed on the dyno is the starting point, not the whole menu. Where your Clubman JCW runs the automatic Steptronic transmission, we recalibrate the gearbox alongside the engine, sharpening shift speed and refining torque limiters the factory sets conservatively. Launch control coding is available on cars specified with it. A standalone rolling road session, with no remap attached, is available if you simply want a genuine figure on your car. Economy remapping suits owners who want a smoother, more efficient everyday car rather than outright power. Stage 2 is available where the supporting hardware is fitted, call to discuss what your car currently has.
Stage 1 vs Stage 2
Stage 1 on the Clubman JCW is a software-only calibration, developed from your car's own baseline pull and needing no hardware changes. It is where the majority of B48 Clubman JCWs sit, and for most owners it is the right stopping point. above the 302 bhp factory output.
Stage 2 asks more of supporting hardware, typically an upgraded intercooler, induction and downpipe, to sustain higher boost safely. We will tell you honestly whether your Clubman JCW's current hardware supports it rather than pushing a Stage 2 map onto a car that is not ready for it.
