The Panamera engine range

The Panamera spans a wider engine range than any other Porsche model on this site, from a 2.9-litre V6 turbo producing 325 to 434 bhp depending on trim, through to the 4.0-litre V8 in Turbo specification producing 542 to 621 bhp. Entry and 4S models are typically rear or all-wheel drive depending on spec, while the Turbo and 4S run Porsche's all-wheel-drive system as standard, splitting drive between front and rear axles depending on conditions.

That range of engines and drivetrains means no single calibration approach fits every Panamera that comes through Eccles. The factory tune on both the V6 and V8 is set conservatively for the same reason every Porsche's is, to run cleanly across every market and fuel grade the car is sold into, which leaves genuine headroom for a dyno-developed Stage 1 map.

Why Panamera remapping needs a specialist

A car spanning a turbocharged V6 and a twin-turbo V8, in rear and all-wheel-drive configurations, is not a platform you calibrate with a single generic file. Samuel Gunnell develops every Panamera calibration from a baseline pull specific to that car, reading the ECU via Kess3 or CMD bench tooling at Eccles. This is in-person work only, there is no remote flashing platform for Porsche on this site. A file written for the wrong engine variant or market fuel specification is a real risk on a car this complex, and getting it wrong is the kind of mistake that shows up as a driveability fault, not just a missed power figure.

Every service available on the Panamera

Stage 1 calibration is the most requested service across the Panamera range, but it sits alongside a wider menu. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware is fitted, and we will advise honestly on whether your car's setup justifies it. A standalone rolling road session, without any remap attached, suits owners who want a documented figure before committing further. Economy remapping is worth a conversation for owners covering high motorway mileage. Where PDK is fitted, we recalibrate the transmission alongside the engine at the same session, and launch control coding is available on cars specified with it.

PDK gearbox remapping

The Panamera range runs Porsche's PDK dual-clutch transmission as standard, and it responds well to recalibration once the engine map is complete. A remapped PDK shifts faster, holds gears more decisively under load, and sharpens launch control response where the car is fitted with it. We carry out PDK recalibration at the same session as the engine map where the car's specification supports it, so the whole powertrain is brought into alignment rather than leaving the gearbox running a calibration built for the factory's lower output.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stage 2 available on the Panamera?
Yes, where the supporting hardware is fitted. We assess your specific car and advise honestly on whether Stage 2 is worth pursuing over Stage 1, rather than recommend it as a default upgrade.
Do you remap the PDK alongside the engine?
Where the car's specification supports it, yes. A PDK recalibration sharpens shift speed and torque management to match the new engine output, carried out at the same session where possible.
How long does a Panamera remap take?
A typical Stage 1 session, including baseline pull, mapping and verification runs, takes around half a day at Eccles. We will confirm a realistic timeframe when you book, particularly if PDK recalibration is included.
Will the remap affect the driving modes or air suspension?
A properly developed calibration is built to work with the car's existing driving modes and systems, not against them. We test across the relevant modes during verification to confirm nothing behaves unexpectedly.
Do you cover the Panamera 4S and Turbo as well as the standard car?
Yes. The 4S and Turbo run Porsche's all-wheel-drive system, and our 4WD Bapro dynamometer is exactly the equipment needed to calibrate and verify that drivetrain properly, alongside the rear-wheel-drive variants.
