The Ingenium family in the Velar
The Velar spans a wider Ingenium range than most models on this site, from four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol and diesel units up to the 3.0-litre straight-six, with outputs running from 178 bhp on the entry D180 diesel up to 394 bhp on the six-cylinder mild-hybrid P400 petrol. The four-cylinder units are the volume engines in the range and respond consistently well to Stage 1 calibration, while the six-cylinder derivative carries more headroom again given its larger displacement and factory state of tune.
Stage 1 across the range is a software-only recalibration of fuelling, boost and ignition strategy.

Every service available on the Velar
Stage 1 is available across the full Ingenium range fitted to the Velar. Stage 2 is available on suitable variants where supporting hardware is fitted, and we'll advise honestly on whether it's worth pursuing. An economy-focused remap is available for owners who want lower running costs on longer journeys. Gearbox recalibration is available alongside the engine map on automatic models. Standalone rolling road sessions are available for a baseline pull or a post-modification check.
Gearbox
The Velar is offered exclusively with an automatic transmission, and a gearbox recalibration alongside the engine remap is a genuinely worthwhile addition rather than an afterthought on this car. Shift points can be adjusted to hold gears longer under load or change down more decisively when the driver asks for it, and hesitation between ratios at part throttle, a common complaint on the standard calibration, is reduced. On the six-cylinder derivative in particular, sharper transmission response makes the extra torque available lower down feel far more usable in everyday driving rather than arriving with a delay through the gearbox.
