Mercedes-AMG GT remap

Weekend car chasing every last bit of the M178's character, or a 4-door daily that still needs to feel like a proper AMG on the right road. Whichever this is, it starts with a calibration developed on the dyno, not loaded from a laptop. Call 0161 302 5117.

Every service available on the AMG GT

Stage 1 calibration is available across the M178 range, developed via MG Flasher on this platform and verified on the dyno rather than applied blind. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware suits the extra load, and we'll advise honestly on whether it's the right step for your specific car. Transmission calibration is available alongside the engine remap for sharper shift response. An economy-focused remap is available for owners who want the car to cost less on longer road trips without touching its character. Standalone rolling road sessions are available for a baseline pull or a straightforward power run.

Why AMG GT owners remap

Two kinds of AMG GT owner come through Eccles. The first owns the two-door coupe or roadster as a dedicated weekend car, and wants the M178's full character available every time the road opens up, sharper response and stronger mid-range pull rather than a bigger peak number for its own sake. The second owns the four-door variant as a genuine daily, and wants the same underlying engine to feel properly awake when the moment calls for it without giving up the composure that makes it liveable the rest of the week.

Both are working with an engine AMG has already tuned hard from the factory, spanning 469 bhp on the entry two-door up to 577 bhp on the GT R and GT Black Series, with the four-door variants running their own state of tune across the GT 43, 53 and 63 range. That range means the calibration approach has to be built around your specific car's state of tune, not a single generic M178 file.

Engine and stage options

The M178 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is the engine across the whole AMG GT range, in a state of tune that varies by variant. The two-door cars run rear-wheel drive; the four-door GT runs 4Matic+. Stage 1 is developed on software alone and, on most cars in this range, delivers a strong usable gain without touching the mechanical package. Stage 2 requires supporting hardware to unlock further headroom safely, and we'll be clear about what that step involves before you commit to it.

A visit to Eccles

An AMG GT session starts with a baseline pull, giving us a real measured figure for your specific car before any calibration work begins. On the 4Matic+ four-door variant, that pull happens on our 4WD Bapro dyno, the only way to load the all-wheel-drive system correctly; on the rear-wheel-drive coupe and roadster, the same rig delivers a repeatable, load-simulated pull rather than a road estimate. The map is then developed against your car's own data using MG Flasher, and verification pulls follow on the same rollers under the same conditions, so the before-and-after figures are directly comparable.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my AMG GT be with you?
Most Stage 1 sessions, including baseline and verification pulls, are completed within a few hours. If transmission calibration is being carried out alongside, allow a little longer, and we'll confirm timing when you book.
Do I need to do anything before I bring my AMG GT in?
Bring the car with a reasonable amount of fuel and flag any known issues, fault codes or recent modifications when booking.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Yes, you're welcome to be at the facility while your car is being calibrated.
Is a remap covered by any kind of guarantee?
We stand behind the calibration work we carry out. Speak to us directly about the specifics for your car and how you use it.
What if I only want a rolling road session and not more power?
That's a standalone option. A dyno session is available on its own for a baseline figure, a post-modification check, or simply to see real numbers on paper.
