The dyno is the difference

There is no shortage of remapping services advertising in the Chester area. Most of them will plug a tool into your OBD port and write a calibration file that was built for a car like yours, not your car. Manchester Dyno Centre works differently. Every map is developed and confirmed on a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer at the facility in Eccles, Manchester.

The Bapro measures fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events throughout every run. That data is visible to the tuner in real time, and the calibration is adjusted on the rollers until the numbers confirm it is right. Before you leave, you have power figures, actual measured output from your engine, before and after the work, documented on the same day.

That is not a premium add-on for Chester customers who pay more. That is how every job here is done, on every car, regardless of the work required.

The facility

Manchester Dyno Centre operates from a 6,000 sq ft workshop at HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. The site houses a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer, with full 4WD capability in-house, not shared with another facility. Hardware is Kess3 and CMD, covering OBD-port and bench tuning (the ECU physically removed) across a wide range of platforms.

This is a fixed facility. Chester drivers travel to Eccles. There is no mobile unit and no van in a car park. If you want a map that has been built and tested on your actual engine, this is where that work happens.

Frequently asked questions

What does a dyno-verified remap actually involve?
Your car arrives at the Eccles facility and goes straight onto the 4WD Bapro dynamometer. Samuel Gunnell runs a baseline power pass to establish where the car currently sits. He reads the ECU, builds or modifies the calibration, and runs the car again. Fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events are monitored throughout. The calibration is refined on the rollers until the data confirms it is right. The session ends when the numbers are correct, not when a time limit is up. You leave with documented before-and-after figures.
How is a dyno remap different from a standard remap?
A standard remap loads a calibration file built for an average example of your engine. A dyno remap builds or confirms the calibration against your specific car, under real load, with live data throughout. The output is a map that has been proven to work on your engine, not assumed to be appropriate based on the model. The measured power figure at the end is the evidence.
