Rolling road remap near Winsford
Every session at Manchester Dyno Centre follows the same process: baseline run on the 4WD Bapro dyno, live ECU calibration, confirmation on the rollers. Around 45 minutes from Winsford.
The session, how it works
Here is what a session at Manchester Dyno Centre looks like in practice. Your car arrives at the facility on James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester. It goes straight onto the 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer. Samuel Gunnell runs a baseline power pass to establish where the car sits before any work begins, fuelling output, boost pressure, ignition timing, and knock events are logged. That figure becomes the documented starting point.
Samuel reads the ECU using Kess3 or CMD hardware, depending on the platform and whether direct bench access is required. He builds or modifies the calibration and puts the car back on the rollers. Every subsequent run is monitored live, fuelling response, boost behaviour, ignition advance, and knock are visible in real time. The calibration is adjusted, the car goes back on the dyno, and the process repeats until the data confirms the map is right.
The session ends when the figures are correct, not on a fixed clock. You leave with documented before-and-after power figures from your own engine, on the same rollers, on the same day. That is the process on every job, not a tier reserved for higher-value work.
The facility
Manchester Dyno Centre operates from a 6,000 sq ft workshop at HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF.
The dyno cell houses a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer. Full 4WD capability is not standard at most UK facilities, the majority of rolling roads operate with two driven wheels only, which means an all-wheel-drive car cannot be correctly loaded under power. The Bapro handles it properly.
Calibration hardware is Kess3 and CMD. Kess3 covers OBD-connected read-write across a wide range of petrol and diesel platforms. CMD extends that to bench tuning, direct ECU access for platforms that require the unit to be physically removed for a full read or write. Both are professional-grade tools, not clone hardware.
This is a fixed facility. Manchester Dyno Centre does not operate a mobile service. Customers travel to Eccles. On-site parking is available.
Services
ECU calibration, Stage 1 (petrol and diesel). Software-only remap developed on the dyno against your car's actual data. No hardware modifications required. Results confirmed on the rollers before the car leaves.
ECU calibration, Stage 2. Full power calibration matched to the hardware fitted: intercooler, air filter, exhaust. Stage 2 requires supporting modifications to already be in place before the session.
TCU calibration (DSG and traditional gearboxes). Shift points, shift behaviour, and torque limiters recalibrated to align with the engine map. Covers both dual-clutch DSG units and conventional automatic gearbox controllers.
Rolling road session, power verification only. Dyno run without calibration work. Produces documented power figures as a baseline or independent check on work carried out elsewhere.
Launch control activation. Coded and activated to suit the platform and its ECU architecture. Consistent standing starts from a repeatable RPM hold.
Speed limiter recalibration. Available for vans and commercial vehicles where the factory speed restriction is operationally limiting.
Overrun and anti-lag (flame tune). Controlled overrun calibration producing audible character on the overrun. Applied deliberately, not enabled as a blanket switch. Enthusiast use.
Remote platform tuning, Bootmod3 (BM3) and MHD. For BMW and Mini owners using supported platforms who cannot attend in person. Calibration files developed by Samuel Gunnell and delivered remotely.
