The Mk8 Fiesta ST 1.5 EcoBoost, one of the best remaps in its class

The Mk8 Fiesta ST 1.5 EcoBoost three-cylinder is an exceptional remap candidate. That is not marketing. It is a consistent finding across the tuning industry, and one we can demonstrate on the dyno.

Ford's factory output is rated at 200bhp, already strong for a 1.5-litre unit. With a Stage 1 remap, no hardware changes, just a calibration developed specifically for the car on the day, we typically see figures around 260bhp on the Bapro. That is a 30 per cent increase in headline output from software alone. More importantly, the torque gain through the mid-range is the change you feel most. The engine pulls harder, earlier, and it does so with a linear character that suits the rest of the car's chassis perfectly.

The three-cylinder layout initially drew scepticism when Ford announced it for the Mk8 ST. On the dyno, it has proven consistently responsive and mechanically sound under increased load. It is, pound for pound, one of the best hot hatch tunes available anywhere in the market.

Mk7 Fiesta ST, 1.6 EcoBoost

The Mk7 remains a popular car, and justifiably so. The 1.6 EcoBoost four-cylinder producing 182bhp in standard form is a characterful engine with good response to calibration work. The gain profile is different to the Mk8's three-cylinder, the four-pot has its own torque characteristics and a slightly different sensitivity to ignition timing changes, but the result is the same in terms of approach. Each map is developed from a baseline run on the car in front of us.

How the remap is carried out

Every Fiesta ST that comes through Manchester Dyno Centre goes through the same process. The car is assessed on arrival. We take a baseline run to establish the current output and to check for any anomalies before we touch the calibration. The map is then developed and applied, and we run the car on the Bapro again to verify the result.

Samuel Gunnell, with over ten years of professional remapping experience, writes every map. Nothing is handed off and nothing is applied from a generic file without dyno verification. When you collect the car, you have the run data to prove what it is making.

Why is the Mk8 Fiesta ST such a good remap?
The 1.5 EcoBoost three-cylinder in the Mk8 ST has significant headroom in the standard calibration relative to what the engine hardware can support. Ford's factory settings are conservative for broad market use. A properly developed remap unlocks that headroom directly, without requiring hardware changes at Stage 1. The result is a gain that feels substantial in normal driving, not just on a dyno sheet.
Does the Fiesta ST remap need any supporting modifications?
At Stage 1, no. The standard hardware is sufficient. If you are planning supporting modifications such as an uprated induction kit, speak to us before booking, we will advise on what changes are worthwhile and what the calibration implications are.

Sessions vary depending on what the car needs. Allow half a day. We will give you a clearer estimate when you book.
