Ford Mustang remap

EcoBoost turbo four or Coyote naturally aspirated V8, dyno-verified at our Eccles facility. Which engine you have changes what a remap can realistically do, and we will tell you that honestly before any work starts. The Mustang's two engines

The Mustang range in the UK splits across two genuinely different engines, and it matters which one is under your bonnet. The EcoBoost 2.3-litre turbo four produces around 290 bhp from the factory and, being turbocharged, holds real headroom above that figure once properly calibrated. This is where a remap has the most to offer on this platform.

The Coyote 5.0-litre V8 is naturally aspirated, producing between 444 and 460 bhp depending on generation and specification. Without a turbocharger to work with, the remap ceiling on the Coyote is genuinely limited compared to the EcoBoost. The gains available are about refining ignition timing and fuelling rather than a boost-driven jump in output. We would rather say that plainly than sell a V8 Mustang owner on a figure the engine cannot deliver. Both engines send drive to the rear wheels only.

Why Mustang remapping needs a specialist

Both Mustang engines are common enough that generic files circulate widely, and neither is forgiving of a calibration built for a different market's fuel or a different state of tune. Ford does not have a remote tuning app on this site, so both the EcoBoost and Coyote are mapped in person via Kess3 and CMD at Eccles, with the ECU read directly rather than a pre-written file pushed to it. On the EcoBoost in particular, getting the boost and fuelling calibration right is the difference between a genuinely strong Stage 1 result and an aggressive map that is not sustainable on UK pump fuel.

Every service available on the Mustang

Stage 1 is available on both engines, with the realistic outcome explained honestly for whichever one you have. Stage 2 is available on the EcoBoost where supporting hardware is fitted; on the Coyote, Stage 2 gains are more modest and we will advise accordingly. An economy remap is available for owners who want better consumption rather than more power. We remap the automatic gearbox alongside the engine where fitted, and a standalone rolling road session is available if you want a baseline pull without a full remap. The flame tune option suits either engine for enthusiast, track-day use within the usual legal off-road framing.

Automatic gearbox remapping

Where a Mustang is fitted with the ten-speed automatic, we remap the transmission control unit alongside the engine, adjusting shift speed and shift points to suit the engine's new output. Manual cars are remapped on the engine side only.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stage 2 available on the Mustang?
Yes on the EcoBoost, where supporting hardware is fitted. On the Coyote V8, Stage 2 gains are more modest given the engine is naturally aspirated, and we will tell you honestly what to expect.
Do you remap the automatic gearbox alongside the engine?
Yes, where the ten-speed automatic is fitted. Shift speed and shift points are adjusted to suit the engine's new output.
How long does a Mustang remap take?
A standard Stage 1 session typically takes a few hours at Eccles, covering the baseline pull, calibration and verification runs.
Will the remap affect the Mustang's driving modes?
The remap adjusts engine output, not the car's factory drive mode settings, which continue to operate as normal.
Do you cover both the EcoBoost and GT V8 versions of the Mustang?
Yes. We confirm exactly which engine your Mustang has before booking, since the realistic outcome of a remap differs significantly between the two.
