Ford Focus RS remap

Every Mk3 Focus RS is calibrated on our 4WD Bapro dyno, the only way to load Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive properly. See the full range of Ford remapping we cover, or call 0161 302 5117 to discuss your car.

Why the 4WD dyno matters for the Focus RS

Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive is not a badge on the Mk3 Focus RS, it is a genuinely active torque-vectoring system, and it is exactly why a two-roller dyno cannot test this car properly. Put the RS on a rig built for a front-wheel-drive hatchback and you either lock an axle it shouldn't run without or force the car into a non-standard test mode that does not reflect how the system actually splits torque between the rear wheels. Neither gives you a real number.

Our 4WD Bapro dynamometer loads all four wheels the way the EcoBoost 2.3 actually sends drive to them through Ford Performance AWD. The baseline pull, the map and the verification runs that follow all happen with the car doing what it does on a real road, not a compromised version of it.

How we map the Focus RS

A session starts with a baseline pull on the rollers, establishing what your specific car produces before anything is touched. Ford does not have a remote tuning app on this site, so the Focus RS is mapped in person via Kess3 and CMD at Eccles, with the ECU read directly rather than a generic file pushed to it. Once the calibration is applied, verification pulls follow straight after on the same rollers, giving a genuine before-and-after comparison from the same session.

Beyond the Stage 1 map developed on the dyno

Stage 1 is software only and covers most Focus RS owners' needs. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware (typically an upgraded intercooler, intake and downpipe) is fitted, and we will advise honestly on whether it suits your car. Launch control is codeable and adjustable, and the flame tune option is available for enthusiast, track-day use within the usual legal off-road framing. A standalone rolling road session is available if you want a baseline pull without a full remap.

Stage 1 vs Stage 2

Stage 1 on the Focus RS's EcoBoost 2.3, producing 345 bhp from the factory, delivers a genuinely strong gain from software alone. Stage 2 needs the supporting hardware mentioned above to unlock further headroom safely, and it is not something we push as a default. We will advise honestly on whether it is warranted for how you use your car.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't a two-roller dyno test my Focus RS properly?
Ford Performance AWD actively splits torque between the rear wheels, and a two-roller rig cannot load or replicate that properly. Our 4WD Bapro dyno loads all four wheels simultaneously, reflecting how the RS actually drives.
How long does the dyno session itself take?
The dyno portion, covering baseline and verification pulls, typically takes under an hour within a session running a few hours in total including calibration.
Do you use my car's actual data or a generic file?
Your car's actual data. We read the ECU directly at Eccles and build the calibration against your specific baseline pull, not a pre-written file.
What happens if the dyno run shows a problem with my car?
We stop and tell you before proceeding. A problem flagged on the baseline pull is addressed before any remap goes ahead.
Can I book a rolling road session on my Focus RS without a remap?
Yes. A standalone rolling road session is available if you just want a baseline pull or a health check without committing to a remap.
