Why the 4WD dyno matters for the Ranger Raptor
The Raptor isn't a standard Ranger with a suspension upgrade. It's a full-time four-wheel-drive platform built to put power down over broken surfaces as readily as tarmac, and that changes what a dyno session needs to do. Put a truck like this on a single-axle rig and you're either running it in a mode it wasn't designed for on the road, or leaving one axle unloaded while you try to draw conclusions from the other. Neither gives you a figure you can trust.
Our Bapro dynamometer loads all four driven wheels at once, so the baseline pull and the verification pulls that follow it happen with the drivetrain doing what it actually does when the truck is being driven. That matters more on the Raptor than on most vehicles we see, because the powertrain and the four-wheel-drive system on this truck were engineered together, not bolted together.
How we map the Ranger Raptor
We start with a baseline pull on the 4WD Bapro rig to record exactly what your Raptor is producing before any calibration work begins. The ECU is read and the existing map assessed, then a calibration is developed specifically for your truck's engine, current condition and the fuel it runs on. The current-generation Raptor (2023 onward) runs a 292 bhp EcoBoost 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol; the earlier, first-generation Raptor (2019 to 2022) ran a 213 bhp EcoBlue biturbo 2.0-litre diesel. Once the new map is applied, we run verification pulls back to back on the same rollers under the same load, so the figures we hand back to you are directly comparable to the baseline, not a claim from a different day or a different truck.
Every service available beyond the Stage 1 map
Stage 1 developed on the dyno is the core of most Raptor sessions, but it isn't the only thing on offer. Stage 2 is available where the truck is running supporting hardware suited to the extra load. An economy-focused calibration is available for owners who want the Raptor to cost less to run on longer trips without touching its off-road character. Gearbox recalibration is available on automatic models for sharper shift response under load. Standalone rolling road sessions let you get a baseline figure or verify work already carried out elsewhere, without committing to a full remap on the day.
Stage 1 vs Stage 2
Stage 1 on the Ranger Raptor is software only. It recalibrates fuelling, boost and ignition strategy within what the standard hardware can safely support, and for most owners it's where the real usable gain sits. Stage 2 asks more of the supporting hardware, typically an upgraded intercooler and a freer-flowing exhaust, and unlocks further headroom once those are fitted. We'll advise honestly on whether Stage 2 is worth it for your specific truck rather than push it as a default upsell.
