Audi A4/A5 remap
EA888 2.0-litre TFSI, dyno-verified at our Eccles facility. Whether you drive the saloon, Avant or Sportback, the same four-cylinder sits under the bonnet, and it holds more than the factory calibration ever asks of it. The EA888 2.0 TFSI in the A4 and A5
The 45 TFSI badge covers the current-generation EA888 fitted across the B9 and B9.5 A4 and A5 range, producing 261 bhp from the factory. It is one of the most widely used engines in the Volkswagen Group, and that scale is exactly why the standard calibration is set conservatively. It has to run reliably on whatever fuel and in whatever climate an A4 finds itself, from a Manchester winter to a market with poorer pump fuel entirely.
Quattro is offered on the A4 and A5 but is not standard on every trim. Plenty of cars on this platform run front-wheel drive only, so we confirm drivetrain before booking rather than assuming. What we can say without a placeholder is that the mid-range gap between what the engine produces and what it is capable of holding reliably is real, and it is the same gap we close on every EA888 that comes through the workshop.
Why EA888 remapping needs a specialist
The EA888 has passed through more remap benches in the UK than almost any other engine, which cuts both ways. It means a huge amount is known about the platform, but it also means generic, off-the-shelf files circulate widely, tuned for a different market's fuel or a different state of tune entirely. Samuel Gunnell maps the A4 and A5 in person via Kess3 and CMD at Eccles, reading the car's actual ECU rather than pushing a pre-written file, because an A4's 45 TFSI calibration is not identical to the same engine in a Golf GTI or a Cupra, even though the block is the same. Audi is not one of the makes with a remote tuning app on this site. Every A4 and A5 is done on the bench, in person.
Every service available on the A4 and A5
Stage 1 is a software-only remap and the starting point for most A4 and A5 owners. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware (an upgraded intercooler and intake) is fitted; we will advise whether it is warranted for your car before recommending it. Beyond outright power, an economy remap is a genuinely popular request on this platform for owners covering higher motorway mileage who want better fuel consumption rather than more bhp. A standalone rolling road session is also available if you simply want a baseline pull or a health check without committing to a remap.
S tronic gearbox remapping
Where an A4 or A5 is fitted with the S tronic dual-clutch gearbox, we remap the transmission control unit alongside the engine using xHP, the dedicated VAG gearbox tool. This sharpens shift speed and adjusts shift points so the transmission responds to the power the engine is now producing rather than the factory setting it left the line with. Manual and standard automatic variants are remapped on the engine side only.
