Audi RS3 remap
Samuel Gunnell has mapped more RS3s than most tuners have seen. The 8V and 8Y platforms have passed through this workshop in significant numbers, and the calibration knowledge built on the back of that work is not something you arrive at from reading a datasheet. It comes from hours on the dyno with different cars in different conditions, establishing what the EA855 and EA855 Evo will actually hold reliably and what happens when you push past that threshold.

RS3 8V, EA855, 367 bhp
The 8V RS3 uses the EA855 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged petrol. Factory power sits at 367 bhp. The engine management calibration that leaves the Audi factory is conservative, deliberately so, because it has to account for varying fuel quality, operating conditions and real-world durability across a wide range of markets.
Stage 1 remapping on the 8V RS3 at Manchester Dyno Centre produces verified output in the 430 to 450 bhp range. The improvement is felt most obviously in the mid-range, the torque curve fills out and the car pulls harder and earlier in each gear. The five-cylinder character remains intact. The car does not become unpleasant to drive, it becomes more of what it already was.
The 4WD Bapro dynamometer is essential for this work. The RS3 runs Quattro four-wheel drive as standard. Running the car on a two-roller dyno would require operating it in a non-standard mode or risking drivetrain damage. Our four-roller setup measures all four wheels simultaneously, as the car was designed to run.
RS3 8Y, EA855 Evo, 394 bhp
The 8Y brought an updated version of the five-cylinder, the EA855 Evo. Factory power increased to 394 bhp, and more importantly, the engine architecture improved. The EA855 Evo responds better to calibration than its predecessor, with a wider operating window and stronger thermal management.
Stage 1 on the 8Y RS3 produces verified output in the 460 to 490 bhp range, a gain that makes the 8Y a genuinely rapid machine in everyday driving. The in-gear pace, particularly in second and third, becomes a different proposition entirely.
Stage 2, HPFP and supporting hardware
Stage 2 remapping on the RS3 requires hardware upgrades. The primary bottleneck on the EA855 and EA855 Evo at higher power levels is the high-pressure fuel pump. An upgraded HPFP, available from several reputable suppliers, removes this limitation and allows the engine management calibration to run more fuel at higher load sites.
Supporting hardware alongside the HPFP typically includes an upgraded intercooler and intake system. With that hardware in place, Stage 2 calibration on the 8Y RS3 can push output to levels that require a different mental model of what the car is.

DSG and S Tronic remapping
Both 8V and 8Y RS3 variants are available with the S Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. We remap the gearbox ECU alongside the engine as a combined service. Shift speed, shift points, torque limiters within the gearbox software and launch control parameters are all adjustable. The result is a powertrain that works as a coherent unit, the gearbox responds to the power the engine is now producing rather than the factory power level it was calibrated for.
