The session, how it works

Here is what a session at Manchester Dyno Centre looks like in practice. Your car arrives at the facility on James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester. It goes straight onto the 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer. Samuel Gunnell runs a baseline power pass to establish where the car sits before any work begins. He reads the ECU, builds or modifies the calibration, and puts the car back on the rollers.

Fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events are visible in real time throughout every run. If anything needs adjustment, the calibration is modified and the car goes back on the dyno. This process continues until the data confirms the map is correct. You do not leave with a version that looks right on paper but has not been verified under load.

When the session ends, you have documented before-and-after power figures taken from your specific engine on that specific day. That is the process on every job here, not just the expensive ones.

The facility

Manchester Dyno Centre operates from a 6,000 sq ft workshop at HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. The dyno cell houses a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer capable of loading AWD vehicles correctly, which the majority of UK rolling roads cannot do. ECU read and write is handled via Kess3 and CMD hardware, covering OBD-port tuning and bench work where the ECU is physically removed. On-site parking is available. This is a fixed facility; there are no mobile visits.

Services

ECU calibration, Stage 1: Software-only remap for petrol and diesel engines. No hardware modifications required. Calibration developed and verified on the dyno.

ECU calibration, Stage 2: Mapped to your actual modifications. Requires supporting hardware already fitted: intercooler, air filter, exhaust. The map is built around your specific setup on the rollers.

TCU calibration, gearbox and DSG remap: Shift points, torque limits and gearbox behaviour tuned to match the engine map. Covers DSG and traditional automatic gearboxes.

Rolling road session: Power verification run without remapping. Used to establish a baseline, check existing work, or document current output.

Launch control activation: Coded and configured for consistent standing starts. Requires confirmation that the vehicle and drivetrain are suited before activation.

Speed limiter recalibration: Available for vans and commercial vehicles where operational requirements justify it.

The majority of rolling roads in the UK are two-wheel-drive only and cannot load an AWD car under real conditions. Running an AWD vehicle on a two-wheel-drive rolling road produces inaccurate data and risks drivetrain damage.
