Car remapping near Padiham
Confirmed before-and-after power figures from a 4WD Bapro dyno. Every map is developed on your actual engine at the Eccles, Manchester facility, not built around what a car like yours typically makes.
What you leave with
The question worth asking before you book a remap is not what it costs, it is what you leave with. At Manchester Dyno Centre, you leave with a confirmed power figure. Your car goes onto a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer at the Eccles, Manchester facility, and the calibration is developed and verified against real measured output from your engine. Before and after, on the same rollers, on the same day.
Generic remaps deliver a file written for an average car. What your engine actually makes depends on your fuel quality, mileage, individual tolerances and the state of the hardware. A dyno-verified map does not work from an average. Samuel Gunnell monitors fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events in real time throughout every run. The calibration is adjusted on the rollers until the data confirms it is right for your specific car. The session ends when the numbers say it is done, not when the clock runs out.
Which vehicles get the best results
BMW B58, N55, N57 and S55 platforms respond well and are regularly through the Eccles facility. The VW Golf GTI, GTD and R cover the VW Group petrol and diesel range. Audi with Quattro is handled correctly because the 4WD Bapro can load an all-wheel-drive car under representative conditions, a 2WD rolling road cannot. Ford Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Transit and Ranger are all mapped. Seat Cupra and Skoda Octavia vRS both respond to calibration work. Vauxhall Astra VXR and Vivaro van are covered. Mercedes petrol and diesel platforms are on the list.
Both petrol and diesel are covered, and the 4WD dyno handles all-wheel-drive platforms that a 2WD rolling road would simply have to turn away. If your car is not listed, call, the Kess3 and CMD hardware covers a wide spread of platforms.
Services
Stage 1 remap: more power without any hardware changes. Book this if your car is standard and you want confirmed gains documented on the dyno.
Stage 2 remap: matched to the modifications already on your car. The calibration is built around your actual intercooler, filter and exhaust, not a generic profile applied in hope.
Economy remap: lower fuel costs on the same journeys. More efficient fuelling at light throttle without removing driveability on the open road.
DSG and gearbox remap: shift speeds and torque limits recalibrated to match the engine map. The gearbox works with the tune, not against it.
Rolling road session: know exactly where your car sits before you decide what to do next. Power run only, no calibration changes.
Launch control: a consistent, repeatable standing start, coded correctly.
Flame tune: the overrun note done properly, with the right ignition timing behind it rather than a trigger added on top.
What the price difference actually reflects
A cheaper generic remap and a dyno-verified map are not the same product at different price points. A generic file costs less because it is written for an average car and loaded from a laptop in under an hour. Your car is not average. Your engine has its own tolerances, its own wear state, its own fuel quality on the day. A calibration built and confirmed on your specific engine, with before-and-after figures you can read off the dyno sheet, is a different category of work. The difference in cost reflects the difference in what was actually done.
