BMW M5 remap

Daily driver, weekend car or something used for both, the F90 M5 is built to be all of it at once. See the full range of BMW remapping we cover, or call 0161 302 5117 to talk through your car.

Every service available on the M5

Stage 1 on the S63 is a software-only calibration, developed and verified on our 4WD Bapro dyno. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware is fitted, and we will advise honestly whether it is warranted rather than push it as a default. An economy remap suits owners who use the M5 as a genuine daily car and want better consumption on the motorway portion of their driving. We remap the automatic gearbox and launch control settings alongside the engine, and a standalone rolling road session is available for a baseline pull without a full remap.

Why M5 owners remap

Two kinds of M5 owner come through Eccles. The first uses the car every day: the school run, the motorway commute, the odd spirited B-road when the mood strikes, and wants sharper throttle response and a fuller mid-range without the car losing any of its daily usability. The second treats the M5 as a serious weekend and occasional track-day machine, already knows what the S63 is capable of, and wants the full extent of it confirmed properly on a dyno rather than assumed from what a forum thread claims.

Both are solved on the same platform. The M5's dual identity, comfortable saloon and genuine performance car, is not something a remap forces you to choose between.

Engine and stage options

The S63 is BMW M's twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8, and standard F90 M5s produce 600 bhp from the factory, with the Competition specification taking that to 625 bhp. M xDrive is standard equipment across the whole F90 range, including the Competition, not a Competition-exclusive feature; every F90 M5 also carries a driver-selectable 2WD mode alongside it. The factory calibration on an engine producing this much power from the factory is still set conservatively for the same reason any globally sold engine is, and there is genuine headroom above it when the boost, fuelling and M xDrive torque split are understood properly rather than just pushed harder.

A visit to Eccles

An M5 booked in at Eccles starts with a baseline pull on the 4WD Bapro dyno, essential for a car putting this much power through all four wheels rather than something you would trust to a two-roller rig. The map is developed against that baseline and applied to the ECU, with verification pulls following straight after on the same rollers so the before-and-after comparison is measured on identical equipment. For most M5 sessions this is completed the same day; we will confirm timing when you book.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my M5 be with you?
Most Stage 1 sessions are completed the same day at Eccles, covering the baseline pull, calibration and verification runs. Stage 2 work involving hardware will take longer, and we will give you a realistic timeframe once we know the scope.
Do I need to do anything before I bring my M5 in?
Arrive with a reasonable fuel level and let us know about any existing modifications or fault codes beforehand. No other preparation is required.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Yes. Our Eccles facility is set up for customers to watch their car on the rollers, and most M5 owners choose to.
Is a remap covered by any kind of guarantee?
We will explain exactly what is covered before any work begins, including how we handle the map if your car's behaviour changes afterwards. Ask us directly when you book.
What if I only want an economy remap and not more power?
That is a straightforward, standalone request on the M5 and does not require the full Stage 1 power calibration. Tell us that is what you want when you book.
