Every service available on the Z4

Stage 1 is a software-only calibration and the natural starting point for most Z4 M40i owners, available remotely via Bootmod3 or MHD or in person at Eccles. Stage 2 is available where supporting hardware is fitted, and we will advise honestly on whether it suits your car. We remap the automatic gearbox alongside the engine, launch control is codeable and adjustable, and a standalone rolling road session is available if you want a baseline pull without a full remap. An economy remap is also available for owners who use the Z4 for longer trips and want better consumption rather than more power.

Why Z4 owners remap

Two kinds of Z4 owner come through Eccles. The first uses the car as a genuine daily driver, roof down when the weather allows, and wants a sharper mid-range and quicker throttle response without the car losing any of its everyday manners. The second treats the Z4 as a dedicated weekend car, already familiar with what the B58 platform can hold, and wants the full extent of it verified on a dyno rather than assumed from what similar cars are claimed to produce online.

Both are solved on the same visit. A roadster does not need to compromise between usability and outright performance to get a proper calibration, and the same calibration work underpins either owner's outcome, just with a different conversation about what matters most.

Engine and stage options

The Z4 M40i runs the B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six, producing between 335 and 340 bhp from the factory and sent to the rear wheels only. The factory calibration is set conservatively, as it has to be for an engine sold across a wide range of markets and fuel qualities, and there is genuine headroom above it once boost and fuelling are mapped properly on this specific platform. Stage 2 needs supporting hardware to unlock further gains safely.

A visit to Eccles

A Z4 session at Eccles starts with a baseline pull on the 4WD Bapro dyno, giving us an accurate figure for your specific car before anything is changed. The ECU is read and the map developed against that baseline, whether remapped remotely via Bootmod3 or MHD or in person via the bench. Verification pulls follow straight after on the same rollers, so the before-and-after comparison comes from the same session on the same equipment, not a different day or a different rig.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my Z4 be with you?
A remote Stage 1 session via Bootmod3 or MHD can be quicker than an in-person bench remap, and we will confirm a realistic timeframe when you book either way.
Do I need to do anything before I bring my Z4 in?
Arrive with a reasonable fuel level and tell us about any existing modifications or fault codes beforehand. No other preparation is needed.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Yes, our Eccles facility is set up for customers to watch their car on the rollers throughout the session.
Is a remap covered by any kind of guarantee?
We will explain what is covered before any work starts, including how we handle the map if your car's behaviour changes afterwards. Ask us directly when you book.
What if I only want the rolling road session and not a remap?
That is available as a standalone option on the Z4 if you just want a baseline pull or a health check without committing to a full remap.
