At Manchester Dyno Centre, the figure is measured. Samuel Gunnell monitors fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events in real time throughout every run. The calibration is refined until the data confirms it is right.

The before-and-after printout documents exactly what changed on your engine, not on a representative sample, not on an average of the model. On your car, on the day. That is not a premium add-on available on certain bookings. It is how every job here is done.

Vehicles and platforms

BMW B58, N55, N57 and S55, covering the main performance platforms across the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Series and M cars. Volkswagen Golf GTI, GTD and R. Audi with Quattro all-wheel drive. Both petrol and diesel are handled across the full range. All-wheel-drive platforms benefit particularly from the 4WD Bapro dyno. Most UK rolling roads are 2WD units and cannot load an AWD vehicle correctly under power, which limits both the accuracy of the measurement and the quality of the calibration for those platforms. The Bapro removes that limitation entirely.

Stage 1 remap, more power and torque without touching the hardware. The gains stay within safe operating limits for your engine's standard components, and the figures are confirmed on the rollers.

Stage 2 remap, calibration matched to hardware you have already fitted: intercooler, induction kit, exhaust. The map is built for your specific combination, not a generic template.

Economy remap, lower fuel costs on the same journeys. Calibration adjusted to favour efficiency at typical throttle inputs without removing performance on demand.

DSG and gearbox remap, shift points and clamping pressure updated to match the engine map. Prevents the transmission from acting as a limiter after the engine has been tuned.

Rolling road session, a power run with before-and-after figures, without a remap. Useful for establishing a baseline or confirming the output of a recently modified car.

The value of a dyno-verified map

A generic remap is a file built for an average example of your car. It is priced accordingly, cheap to deliver because the calibration work was done once for a template, not for your engine. A map developed and confirmed on your specific engine, with measured before-and-after figures, is not the same product.

Frequently asked questions

What power gains can I expect from a Stage 1 remap?
That depends on the platform and the engine. A turbocharged BMW B58 responds differently from a naturally aspirated petrol; a diesel with significant headroom in the factory calibration responds differently again. The honest answer is that the dyno shows the actual figure for your engine, not a percentage from a manufacturer's spec sheet or a model-wide average.
Do you provide before-and-after power figures?
Yes. A dyno run is part of every session, not an optional extra. The baseline run is completed before any calibration work begins, and the final run is documented after. You leave with both sets of figures and the data that supports them.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Yes, customers are welcome to be present during the session at the Eccles facility. Samuel will be focused on the data throughout each run, but you can see the car on the rollers and observe the readings being taken in real time.
Does a remap affect fuel consumption?
A Stage 1 remap often improves light-throttle efficiency, the factory calibration is typically conservative, and a well-developed map can recover some of that headroom. An economy remap is a different scope of work, calibrated specifically for fuel efficiency across typical driving cycles rather than for performance. If fuel cost is the primary goal, it is worth discussing which approach suits your usage when you call.
