What the dyno actually does

There is no shortage of remapping services advertising in the Wythenshawe area. Most of them will plug a tool into your OBD port and write a calibration file that was built for a car like yours, not your car. That process works quickly because it is not really calibration work, it is file delivery. The map was built somewhere else, for an average version of your engine, and applied to your car without adjustment.

Manchester Dyno Centre works differently. Every map is developed and confirmed on a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer at the facility in Eccles, Manchester. Before calibration work begins, the car runs on the rollers to establish a baseline. Fuelling output, boost pressure, ignition timing, and knock events are monitored in real time throughout every run. Samuel Gunnell builds or modifies the calibration live, puts the car back on the dyno, and refines it until the data confirms it is correct.

What you see at the end is documented before-and-after power figures from your engine, measured on the same rollers, on the same day. That is not a tier of service at Manchester Dyno Centre. It is what happens on every job.

The facility

Manchester Dyno Centre operates from a 6,000 sq ft workshop at HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. The facility houses an in-house 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer, full 4WD capability, dedicated to this facility, not shared with another business or hired by the session.

All calibration work uses Kess3 and CMD hardware: professional-grade read-write tooling covering both OBD-connected platforms and bench tuning where the ECU requires direct physical access.

This is a fixed facility. Customers travel to Eccles; Manchester Dyno Centre does not operate a mobile service. From Wythenshawe, the drive is approximately 8 to 10 miles via the motorway network, around 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. Parking is available on site.

Frequently asked questions

What does a dyno-verified remap actually involve?
The car goes onto the 4WD Bapro dyno for a baseline run before any work is done. Samuel Gunnell monitors fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing, and knock events in real time throughout. He reads the ECU, builds or modifies the calibration, and runs the car again. The process repeats until the data confirms the calibration is correct. The session ends when the numbers are right, not on a fixed schedule.
How is a dyno remap different from a standard remap?
A standard remap loads a calibration file built for an average example of your engine. A dyno remap is developed against your car specifically, its actual fuelling tolerances, its actual boost response, its actual behaviour under load. The difference is between a file chosen for a car like yours and a calibration built around the car you actually have. They are not the same category of work.
How far is Manchester Dyno Centre from Wythenshawe?
The facility is at James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. From Wythenshawe, join the motorway network and follow signs for Eccles. The journey is approximately 8 to 10 miles and takes around 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic. Parking is available on site when you arrive.
Do you publish prices?
No. Every job is quoted individually based on the vehicle, the platform, and the scope of work required. There is no standard rate because no two sessions are the same. Call 0161 302 5117 before booking, the team will discuss the car and provide a quote specific to what you need.
