What you leave with

The question worth asking before you book a remap is not what the service costs, it is what you leave with. At Manchester Dyno Centre, you leave with a confirmed power figure. Your car goes onto a 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer at the Eccles, Manchester facility, and the calibration is developed and verified against real measured output. Before and after, on the same rollers, on the same day.

A generic remap gives you an estimate based on what a car like yours typically makes. A dyno-verified map gives you the actual number for your engine.

For Hyde drivers, the facility is roughly 11 miles away, around 25 to 30 minutes' drive. Samuel Gunnell, the lead tuner with over ten years of professional experience, monitors fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events throughout every run on the Bapro. The calibration is refined until the data confirms it is right. You do not leave until it is.

The result is a printout you can put a number to, not an estimate, not a typical figure for your model. Your car, measured, on the day.

Vehicle types covered

The 4WD Bapro dyno at the Eccles facility handles all-wheel-drive platforms correctly, something a standard 2WD rolling road cannot do. If your car puts power down through all four wheels, a 2WD road will not load it as it would operate on the road, which means the data is compromised before the tuning has started.

Platforms regularly remapped here include BMW B58, N55, N57 and S55; Volkswagen Golf GTI, GTD and Golf R; Audi with Quattro; Ford Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Transit and Ranger; Seat Cupra; Skoda Octavia vRS; Vauxhall Astra VXR; and Mercedes petrol and diesel engines. Both petrol and diesel are covered across all platforms, including commercial vehicles and vans.

Services

Stage 1 remap, more power from software alone, no hardware changes required. Calibration developed and confirmed on the dyno.

Stage 2 remap, matched to your actual fitted modifications: intercooler, intake, exhaust. Built for your specific hardware combination, not a generic Stage 2 estimate.

Economy remap, lower fuel costs on the same journeys. Optimised for efficiency rather than peak power.

DSG and gearbox remap, shift points and behaviour matched to the engine calibration so the transmission works with the map, not against it.

Rolling road session, power verification only, no tuning. Know exactly where your car sits before committing to work.

Launch control, a consistent, repeatable standing start, activated and set for your platform.

Flame tune, overrun note done properly, for enthusiast use.

Remote tuning, Bootmod3 (BM3) and MHD for BMW and Mini platforms.

A word on cost

A cheaper generic remap is a calibration file built for an average version of your car. Your car is not average, it has its own fuelling tolerances, its own boost characteristics, its own history. A map built and tested on your specific engine, with documented before-and-after results, is not a like-for-like comparison with a file loaded in a car park.

FAQs

What power gains can I expect from a Stage 1 remap?
That depends on the platform and engine, and the honest answer is that a promise of specific figures before the car is on the dyno is not worth much. What the Bapro gives you is the actual number, measured on your engine, before and after. That is more useful than any figure on a marketing page.
Do you provide before-and-after power figures?
Yes. A dyno run is part of every session. The data is documented and you leave with the figures, baseline output before the work, confirmed output after.
Can I watch the dyno session?
Customers are welcome to be present at the facility during their session. The team will let you know what is happening at each stage. Contact the team when booking if you have specific questions about what to expect on the day.
Does a remap affect fuel consumption?
Stage 1 remaps often improve economy at light throttle because the calibration is more efficient than the factory map, which is built to a compromise. If fuel economy is the primary goal, an economy remap is optimised specifically for that outcome rather than peak power. The two objectives are different and the map is built accordingly.
