Car remapping near Stalybridge, the full dyno session, explained
Your car arrives at the Eccles, Manchester facility. It goes onto the 4WD Bapro dynamometer. It leaves with documented before-and-after power figures. Here is what happens in between.
The session, how it works
Here is what a session at Manchester Dyno Centre looks like in practice. Your car arrives at the facility on James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester. It goes straight onto the 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer. Samuel Gunnell runs a baseline power pass to establish where the car sits before any work begins. He reads the ECU, builds or modifies the calibration, and puts the car back on the rollers.
Fuelling, boost pressure, ignition timing and knock events are visible in real time throughout every run. If the data shows a fuelling correction required at high load, a timing pull under boost, or anything else that needs addressing, the calibration is adjusted and the car goes back on the rollers. This continues until the data confirms the map is right, not until the allotted time runs out.
You leave with documented before-and-after power figures from the session. The calibration written to your ECU has been confirmed under load on a dynamometer. That is the process on every job here, regardless of the vehicle or the price of the work.
From Stalybridge, the drive to Eccles is straightforward: a run west via the motorway network puts you at the facility with ease. The journey is around 10 miles and takes approximately 22 minutes in normal conditions, making Eccles one of the more accessible dyno facilities from Tameside.
Facility
Manchester Dyno Centre operates from a 6,000 sq ft workshop at HNA Facilities, Plot Zero, James Nasmyth Way, Eccles, Manchester M30 0SF. The facility houses an in-house 4-Wheel-Drive Bapro dynamometer, full 4WD capability, which is not standard at most UK remapping facilities. A 2WD rolling road cannot apply a proper load to an all-wheel-drive car under power. The Bapro handles AWD platforms correctly, which means all-wheel-drive vehicles can be calibrated and confirmed under real conditions rather than run on a dyno designed for a different drivetrain layout.
Tuning hardware is Kess3 and CMD. Kess3 covers OBD-port read and write for a wide range of platforms. CMD handles bench and direct ECU read-write for platforms that require boot-mode access, where the ECU is physically removed for a more complete read. On-site parking is available. This is a fixed facility, no mobile visits, all work completed at Eccles.
Services
ECU calibration, Stage 1 (petrol and diesel). Software-only remap developed and confirmed on the in-house dyno. No hardware changes required. The calibration is built to the specific car, not sourced from a generic file library.
ECU calibration, Stage 2. Requires supporting hardware to already be fitted: intercooler, induction kit, exhaust. The calibration is matched to the modifications declared at booking, not a generic Stage 2 estimate. Declare hardware when booking.
TCU calibration, DSG and traditional gearboxes. Transmission tuning to align shift behaviour, torque delivery and response with the engine calibration. Covers dual-clutch DSG and supported conventional gearboxes.
Rolling road session, power verification only. No remap. Baseline and post-modification power runs documented on the 4WD Bapro. Useful as a standalone measurement before or after hardware changes.
Launch control activation. Coded and configured for the platform. Repeatable standing-start performance.
Speed limiter recalibration. Available for vans and commercial vehicles. Call to confirm applicability for your vehicle before booking.
Overrun and anti-lag, flame tune. Configured on the dyno for enthusiast use. Not estimated from a file.
Remote platform tuning, Bootmod3 (BM3) and MHD. Available for BMW and Mini platforms that support these solutions. Call to discuss suitability before booking.
Note: Stage 2 and all hardware-dependent work requires modifications to be fitted and declared in advance. The team will confirm the correct session type and duration when you call.
